The Exultate Choral Composition Competition is a biennial project for Exultate. We issue a challenge to composers across Canada to submit short choral works, on a theme determined by Exultate. The winning composer receives $1000 from Exultate, along with a performance of the work at an Exultate concert.
This year, Canadian composers are invited to submit three- to six-minute a cappella madrigals or partsongs, suitable for performance by a professional-calibre 21-voice mixed chamber choir. Exultate will perform the winning work in the third concert of our 2006-2007 season, Friday, March 2, 2007, at St. Thomas’s Anglican Church in Toronto.
Entries must be postmarked no later than January 12, 2007. For full contest details and the application form, download the contest flyer here.
The most recent Exultate Choral Composition Competition, held in our 2004-2005 season, was won my Judith Snowdon of New Brunswick, whose work "Northern Lights" was premiered at our March 2004 concert, The True North. |

Thursday, 29 September 2005 |
2005 marks the second time Exultate has issued student scholarships. These scholarships, worth $500 each, are issued to high school students to help fund their vocal & choral music training. The scholarships are awarded on the recommendation of school staff, according to interest, skill, and financial need.
This year, Exultate worked with the organizers of the Colours of Music Festival in Barrie, Ontario, to select four students from Simcoe County schools to receive scholarships. The students were:
- Nikki McBride
- Christina Heppelle
- Paula Meng
- Graham Banville
We congratulate these students, and wish them well for their future studies. |
