Exultate was founded on a belief that choral singing should be a fundamental part of music education. Since 1981, John Tuttle and the Exultate Chamber Singers have consistently set a high standard for choral singing and enriched the choral repertoire through commissions and the choral composition competition. Through concerts, recording, and touring Exultate seeks to expand the audience for choral music.

Voice AwardsThe Exultate Outreach Fund, generously supported by donors, was established in 2002 to enhance the outreach activities of the choir. Currently, the Outreach Fund is used to support two activities, a Choral Composition Competition and a scholarship program for promising young musicians.

Exultate has been pleased to support the work of the Regent Park School of Music in Toronto in 2008 and again in 2010. Young performers from the School gave inspiring performances for Exultate donors at the choir’s annual fundraising event.  Other school and community choirs we have supported include Oakwood Collegiate Institute, Topcliff Public School, Earl Haig Secondary School, Havergal College, and the Toronto Children’s Chorus.

The Choral Composition Competition has been awarded four times to deserving Canadian composers Barrie Cabena (2003), Judith Snowdon (2005), Wendell David Glick (2007) and Stephanie Martin (2009).
